About Me...

I joined the Manufacturing and Technology Small Business Development Center (MTSBDC) at Columbus State Community College (CSCC) as the Program Manager in August 2007. I create, coordinate and promote programs and events to inspire, educate and engage individuals in our region who wish to start or grow a small business.

My educational background includes an Associate Degree in Multimedia Production, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management, Summa Cum Laude, and a Masters in Marketing and Communication. I also hold a certificate from Columbus State in Training and Development and I am a LERN Certified Program Planner.

In collaboration with Michael Bowers, the Regional Director of the SBDC, I created this social network in response to the need our clients expressed to have a platform to network, share information, and receive support from other current and inspiring small business owners. We hope this site is beneficial to all small business owners regardless of what stage they are in and I welcome your suggestions and feedback on how we can improve it to better serve you.

In my free time (free time??) when I'm not creating social networks, I enjoy sunsets, long walks on the beach – oops! Sorry, wrong blog. Seriously, I love to vacation, love – love Florida, HGTV, doing anything or nothing at all with my best friends and neo-soul music, including artists India Arie, Jill Scott, and John Legend and the music of pop singer Colbie Caillat.

Blogging - The Key to Your Transformation?

So from time to time I post a blog here as well as blog monthly for SBA.gov. To date I've blogged to market and promote our events and initiatives and when invited to do so on behalf of our Center or a cause. Beyond that I've occasionally thought about blogging on a personal level, but again to market or promote a personal initiative.  Never had it occurred to me that blogging could…

Hi Tonya,

Thanks for the invite! I just signed up for the July 7th, 14th and 21st StartBizNow sessions. I wanted to confirm that I can bring my husband with me. He is helping me with the business. Is there anything we can do to be best prepared for these sessions?

Thank you,

Kelsey Poock

Hello Tonya: I had two reservations for your BASE workshop March 1. Unfortunately, I will have to cancel. I need to attend a mandatory school meeting with my daughter that evening. I apologize. I was not aware of the school meeting when I signed up for the workshop. I have made reservations for April instead. Thank-you.
